American Immigration Lawyers Association Hosts Education Conference

As an immigration attorney, Christopher Stender has spent several years practicing law in the San Diego, California area. He has also defended clients in New York and Arizona. When not in the courtroom or office, attorney Christopher Stender maintains membership with several immigration law-based organizations, one of which includes the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).

The AILA is a national association comprised of more than 14,000 attorneys and law professors, all of whom practice or teach immigration law. Members represent clients ranging from people in the United States seeking permanent residence for their family members to American businesses looking for international workers.

Throughout the year, the AILA hosts events for members to gather, network, and learn. On October 2, 2015, it will sponsor the AILA Fall Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At the 2014 conference, attendees listened to speakers discuss the art of removal defense when helping immigrant clients. They read supporting sample litigation documents and received access to a special seminar on how to better navigate ethical issues. Faculty members were also on-hand to assist with the conference.

About Christopher Stender

After working for three years as Assistant Chief Counsel for the San Diego District of the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service, Christopher Stender launched a law partnership in 1993. Initially known as Stender & Larkin, the firm was renamed Stender & Associates, PC. Christopher Stender spent his undergraduate years at the University of Würzburg, Germany, and the University at Buffalo, State University of New York. He earned his Juris Doctor in 1990 from the Syracuse University College of Law. An East Coast native who lived abroad for two years, Christopher Stender has traveled extensively throughout Europe. In addition to his native English, he speaks German and Spanish. He supports Grace Point Church, Homeless Outreach, Cesar Chavez Elementary School, Tijuana Schools Mission, and Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project. He lives with his wife and four children in San Diego.
